WATER: While most of us understand the importance of drinking water, not all of us are getting the much needed H2O in each day. Water helps to rid our body of toxins, thins our blood (reducing blood pressure), improves our vision, reduces wrinkles and signs of aging, helps move our bowels, relieves headaches, prevents cramping, aids in weight loss, reduces fatigue.. and, well, I could keep going, but I think you get the idea. Since our body is made up of about 65% water, the benefits are numerous. A few key things to know about water:
1. TYPE? Room temperature Distilled water or Reverse Osmosis is your best choice. Tap water is heavily chlorinated and spring / bottled water is not regulated and in most instances, even worse then tap water. Alkaline water, although has many benefits, is not needed. What we really need is to be eating an alkaline diet instead and drinking clean, natural water.
2. WHEN & HOW MUCH? Your body weight, divided by two, divided by 8 gives you the amount of 8 oz glasses, but keep in mind that if you are having a lot of raw foods in the day that that could count for 1-2 glasses depending on how much you are eating. As well, water should be consumed 1-2 hours AFTER your meal, and you should stop drinking at least 15 minutes BEFORE you eat for optimum digestion.
Hoping I have inspired you to make water you first and only choice of beverage through the day. Thirsty Yet???
